Pimp Chimp is Colin Perry, a 33-year-old Music Producer from the Midlands, England.
Colin became interested in Music and Computers at a young age. He started out with a ZX Spectrum and soon became enchanted by its ability to make a beep (beep 1.4!)
Although not the best platform for making music, this gave Colin his first introduction to Computer Synthesis. He then moved on to move sophisticated computers. The Commodore Amiga, being a much-loved system with an 8 channel tracker program called ‘Octomed'.
Finding 8 channels not enough, he decided to run two computers side-by-side, having to hit the play buttons at precisely the same time to get the desired result!
Colin currently has his own Apple Mac based Studio in Coventry, using outboard synthesis
from Korg, Novation, Emu and Waldorf, as well as running the latest music software from Logic
and Ableton.
He works closely with some of Coventry’s best DJ’s and producers, as well as creating his own compositions.
Colin draws influences from a wide range of musical styles, including: Radiohead, Massive Attack, Bork, Portishead, Chili Peppers, Sasha, Digweed, Laurent Garnier, Steve Lawler,
Loco Dice, James Zabelia and Dave Clark to name but a few.
The Pimp Chimp Studio specialises in the production of Underground Electronic Dance Music.
